If you’re a remote worker or frequent traveller like me, you know the struggle of finding a good coffee shop to work at.

If you’re looking for one in Düsseldorf, here it is! A list of the best Düsseldorf work cafes. These cafes have Wi-Fi, power outlets for charging your laptop, and a good atmosphere for work.

Since I frequently travel around Germany, I’ve also done the same list for other major German cities:

They’re all updated for 2025! Of course, all these lists are by no means exhaustive, but they should give you plenty of options around each city. Here are the ones I recommend for Düsseldorf (in no particular order).

KYTO Coffee

Google Maps

Am Wehrhahn 42, 40211

Area: Stadtmitte

Sockets: Some

KYTO is a small, cozy coffee shop right next to the D-Pempelforter station exit. There’s Wi-Fi and a few sockets (in the seats in the back).

It’s not the most laptop-friendly cafe Düsseldorf has to offer since the place can feel a tad cramped during peak hours. So I’d only really recommend it for work if you can come during off-peak hours.

The coffee is great (got a cappuccino), and the food is all right. I’ve been told by a friend that the cakes are also delicious. I was supposed to go a second time, but unfortunately, I never got back to it.

Café Hüftgold

Google Maps

Ackerstraße 113, 40233

Area: Flingern Nord

Sockets: Some

Café Hüftgold is a beautiful coffee shop at the intersection of Ackerstraße and Lindenstraße. It has a vintage look that really makes it memorable. There is Wi-Fi and some power outlets, making it suitable for laptop work.

Though like KYTO, the place, while cozy, can feel a tad cramped when there are a lot of people. I’m also not sure if the whole vibe of the cafe is suitable for most people who want to work (it’s not a problem for me). The seats aren’t the most comfortable for long working hours either.

But in terms of food and drinks? It’s one of the best coffee shops Düsseldorf has to offer. Their coffee and bagels were absolutely delicious. I even went back here just to eat lunch one time. They have plenty of vegan options as well.

Note that they’re closed on Mondays.

Weird Space Café Friedrichstadt (formerly MANKO Café)

Google Maps

Hüttenstraße 76, 40215 Düsseldorf, Germany

Area: Friedrichstadt

Sockets: Some

Weird Space is a great Düsseldorf cafe to work at precisely because they explicitly offer a co-working option. For €9, you get 4 hours of free Wi-Fi + outlet access, as well as a free coffee. That’s a fair deal if you ask me!

No longer do you have to tolerate people’s judging stares. Or worse, have the staff ask you if you’re going to order more after staying for a few hours.

As someone who goes to cafes to work at a lot, I’ve experienced that a lot. (Not because I do it on purpose. I typically order something every so often to justify my stay, but sometimes I get so engrossed in my work that I forget, ha!)

The Wi-Fi is strong and reliable, and the coffee is great too. Note that you’ll likely have to share the large co-working table, though.

They also have a branch in Unterbilk.

TENTEN Coffee

Google Maps

Oststraße 57, 40210

Area: Stadtmitte

Sockets: Yes

With free Wi-Fi and plenty of sockets, TENTEN is another go-to work cafe Düsseldorf has in midtown.

Although I honestly can’t say that TENTEN Coffee has ten-out-of-ten coffee, it’s more than serviceable. The cheesecake I got, however, was definitely 10/10!

I must say, however, that I personally found it hard to focus at first due to the large, see-through windows that the place had for walls. I just felt a bit too… exposed?

The place is popular with students and other freelancers/remote workers, so it might get populated. Otherwise, it has everything you need if you want to work.

Dritan Alsela Coffee

Google Maps

Schlüterstraße 3A, 40235

Area: Flingern Nord

Sockets: Yes

If you’re in the Flingern Nord/ Düsseltal/Grafenberg area, Dritan Alsela is my top recommendation for a laptop-friendly cafe. Or one of my top recommendations for the best cafes Düsseldorf has to offer in general.

First up: there are sockets and strong Wi-Fi, so your laptop is covered.

As for the food and coffee, they are also absolutely delicious. I had their shakshuka, which was scrumptious. From the two times I was here, many people ordered food without even ordering coffee. So it’s a great place for either coffee and snacks or full meals.

When I was there, I also learned that Dritan Alsela is actually a person! He owns the cafe and is also a well-known YouTuber and coffee maker. No wonder the place is great!

The only con is that this place is very popular, so expect things to get loud and crowded. I don’t mind—all I need are noise-cancelling earphones—but others might want to look elsewhere if they want somewhere quieter.

Tomo Cafè

Google Maps

Klosterstraße 67, 40211

Area: Stadtmitte

Sockets: Yes

Tomo has power outlets and fast Wi-Fi, making it very laptop-friendly. The place’s softly lit, brown color palette makes the place feel cozy and grounded. It’s a great atmosphere for focused work.

Prices are on the higher side, but you do get what you pay for. The coffee is solid, and the cakes are amazing. (Though, admittedly, my standards for coffee are higher). Plenty of vegan options too.

It is self-service at the counter, which I know some people don’t like, but I personally don’t.

Lemonade Café

Google Maps

Bilker Allee 180, 40215

Area: Friedrichstadt

Sockets: Yes

Lemonade Café is a picturesque cafe in Friedrichstadt near the Floragarten. Apparently, it’s famous on Instagram for it!

When I was here, I ordered their classic lemonade instead of coffee—I mean, the shop’s name begs for it, right? It didn’t disappoint.

The bagel I got with it was okay, nothing special. Though I was here in the afternoon, so maybe it would’ve been better if it had been freshly baked in the morning.

There are some sockets for charging your laptop as well as good Wi-Fi.

Note that they’re only open from 11 AM to 6 PM and are also closed every Monday.
